Whilst we always do our best to accommodate walk-ins, the only way to guarantee the best seats in the house is by booking!

If for any reason you're unable to make your booking then please do let us know ASAP - this will allow us to open the table up to any other customers. and ensure they don't miss out.

  • Do I need a booking?
    We highly recommend booking in advance to ensure we are able to offer you a seat. But we do always try our best to accommodate any walk-ins, so be sure to pop in if you're passing! Due to the size of our venue, we would always highly recommend larger groups do book.
  • Can I place advanced bookings via phone or email?
    Unfortunately we cannot take any bookings via email, as we do require a deposit/card hold (dependent on size of group) for all reservations. We can take same-day only bookings on the phone, so feel free to give us a call: 0131 225 6431. For all other (non same-day) bookings please use the online booking form. For all advanced (not same day) bookings please click here.
  • My desired time and date isn't available to book
    We always recommend booking as far in advance as possible, but if we don't have availability then do keep checking back as our system is live and any cancellations will show up on our online booking system immediately. Also, be sure to pop in on the day as we do free up any last minute cancellations or no shows for walk-ins, too.
  • Why do I need to pay a deposit/card hold?
    Unfortunately, since reopening after the Covid19 lockdown we have experienced a lot of 'no show' bookings. To counter this, we request a card hold for all bookings of 1 - 6 persons which will be charged £10/person in the event of a no show. For bookings of 7+ persons, we require a £10 per person deposit which can then be used as a redeemed against purchases during your visit.
  • I can no longer make my booking, what do I do?
    Plans change, and that's no problem. To change the date/time of your booking, or cancel it completely, just check your booking confirmation email.
  • Are under 18s permitted in Bar Tonic
    Unfortunately due to our premise license, we cannot host under 18s in the venue during operational hours.
  • Are dogs permitted in Bar Tonic?
    We are definitely dog friendly, although recommend they are not in the venue after 5pm on Friday and Saturdays as it can be a loud and busy environment.
  • Do you only serve cocktails?
    No! We have a full range of beers (bottled and draught), ciders, wines, soft drinks and more.
  • Is there a mocktail menu?
    We don't have a specific mocktail menu, but can make any of our current menu, and classic, cocktails alcohol free for you.
